I am a writer, reporter, instructor, multimedia communications professional and a native of Greater Boston. My work has appeared in an array of both traditional and new media including USA Today, Sports Weekly, the Associated Press, Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Boston.com, MLB.com, SportsOnEarth.com, CSNNE.com, and many others. I've even written for a Japanese mobile app.
I have covered the Red Sox and Major League Baseball since 2001 and the Patriots since 2013. I've also covered almost every sport at almost every level from Little League Opening Days to Thanksgiving Day high school football games to minor-league hockey all-star games to Boston Marathons (which I've also run) to NFL playoffs and World Series-clinching games.
I've written two books: "Diary of a Red Sox Season, 2007" with the legendary Johnny Pesky, and "Yogi Was Up with a Guy on Third..." conversations with 53 of the 64 baseball Hall of Famers living at the time. I have a couple of other books still rolling around in the gray matter -- stay tuned!
I got my start in journalism when I was a kid -- with a paper route, delivering the Lynn Daily Item, the Boston Globe and the Boston Herald. I later wrote for the Item when I was in high school, and have written for all three papers since graduating from Merrimack College (bachelor's degree) and Boston University's College of Communication (master's degree).
I've expanded into the teaching field, as an adjunct professor at BU, Merrimack and Salem State University, teaching journalism and business communications. I have found teaching to be extremely rewarding -- and also extremely challenging. It's very dynamic and the students definitely keep me on my toes, which I really enjoy!
I also have experience in television and radio reporting, web and video production (and even have a couple of Telly awards!), as well as public relations and strategic communications.
On this site you'll find some of the stories I've written, covering sports as well as non-sports topics, too.
